Macaroni Kid

Happy Thursday...

A little late, but worth the wait!

Hello to all my Macaroni Families!  Thank you all for understanding my need to “run away” from reality for a few days…it truly was the BEST Mother’s Day EVER!  I hope all my Macaroni Mamas enjoyed their day as well!   Honestly, I think we all deserve a whole weekend, maybe even a week…what do you think?

I cannot believe how fast this spring has flown by??!!  I mean we’re talking preschool is over SOON and I seriously feel like it was just St. Patrick’s Day!!   In preparation for the upcoming care free summer, I would love to hear about your favorite destinations for day trips!  I am hoping to put a HUGE list together that I can share with you....but as we all know 870+ heads are better than one!  SO email me your ideas, experiences, opinions, etc.  at maggiem@macaronikid.com.  Thanks in advance for your help!

Now on to what you all have been waiting for…the winner of the beautiful “Me, Myself and I” necklace from Erin Pelicano Jewelry.  Congratulations to Meg (comment #8)!!!  Meg, please email me at maggiem@macaronikid.com to claim your prize!

In this week’s newsletter, we have a Family 4 Pack to see Monster Jam Path of Destruction at M&T  Bank Stadium on June 2nd!!  Our  Macaroni Family article will tell you everything you need to know to create a beautiful butterfly garden with your family!!  AND…I review an amazing new “toy” called Fort Magic!

Enjoy this beautiful weather!!

Until next time…Peace, Love, & Macaroni

Food Allergy and Awareness Week

Facts EVERY Parent Should Know

Do you read every label, on every package of food, every week, at the grocery store?  Have you ever feared for your child’s life as you took them to a friend’s birthday party or school celebration?  Do you bake most things from scratch so you can control the ingredients?  Chances are no, unless you have a child or family member with a life-threatening food allergy.

It is estimated that 15 million Americans have food allergies and there has been a dramatic increase in the last few years by ...

Macaroni Family: Butterfly Garden

Now is the ideal time to plant a butterfly garden! We all know that few kids will pass up the opportunity to dig in the dirt, plant flowers, and wait and see what new friends might come for a visit? Butterflies are all aflutter in the spring, summer and fall, and adding a colorful landscape will add delight and enticement to any Butterfly in his right mind looking for a place to land. This is a project that is not too difficult and depending on the size of the garden ...

Macaroni Made: Coffee Filter Butterflies

Beautiful spring decorations!!

Supplies needed:

Coffee Filters

Markers (washable are a plus)

Spray bottles with water

Paper towels

Pipe Cleaners

Directions:

Have children color filter.  The more colors they use, the more colorful their butterfly will be.

Place a paper towel or 2 under the filter.

Spray filter with water until entire filter is wet (but not soaked).

Gather filter in the center and wrap the pipe cleaner around the middle.  Twist at the top, leaving about 3 inches of pipe cleaner at the top.  Wrap cleaner around finger to make curly antennae.

1/2 Cup diced red onion

3/4 Cup feta cheese

3/4 Cup walnut pieces

1 Cup Lemon Vinaigrette salad dressing (any store bought brand will do)

1 Lemon

Steam the green beans until they are "tender-crispy".  Remove from heat and place beans in ice cold water to stop the cooking ...

Product Review: Fort Magic

Endless hours of together, family fun!

Like many other families in the area, our family loves to spend special evenings during the week together…Family Game Night & Family Movie night being the most popular.  This is a time I love…not only because I get to spend quality time with my kids, but because they look forward to these evenings as well.  It’s something to get us through the “work/school week” and it’s also something to help us get through things together…as every family should.  With that being said…I NEED to ...
