Why Mt. Airy Children's Dental Associates Makes Our Families Smile

By Holly Christy, Publisher February 8, 2019

As you probably know, Macaroni Kid and Mt. Airy Children’s Dental Associates have been partners for years. But maybe you didn’t know that both of us also take our own children to Mt. Airy Children’s Dental Associates, to be seen as dental and orthodontic patients. And since neither of us lives in Mt. Airy, you can be sure it’s not just a matter of convenience, but of choosing the practice that we truly believe is the best one around.

Amy, Publisher of Macaroni Kid Frederick and Westminster-Carroll, said she really appreciates how the dentists and hygienists at Mt. Airy Children’s Dental Associates take the time to explain their process to her three children. She said, “They talk to the kids like ‘real’ people, and explain everything they’re doing, which puts them at ease.” After their check-ups, Amy’s kids love visiting the reward station to pick out a special prize, and dropping their names in the Cavity Free Club entry box. Each month the practice randomly picks a child’s name from the box, and rewards that child and his/her parent with a gift card to encourage them to keep up the good brushing! There are so many thoughtful extra touches like that at Mt. Airy Children’s Dental Associates.

My own children are patients on the orthodontic side, with Dr. Sheer. We made the switch after our previous orthodontist presented me with a massive treatment plan for both of my kids that just seemed excessively aggressive – not to mention expensive. I went to Dr. Sheer for a second opinion, and after careful consideration, he advised us to give it some time before starting anything. I can’t explain how I valued that cautious and thoughtful approach! It really seemed like Dr. Sheer cared more about my kids’ development over the long term than he did about an expensive and elaborate treatment plan. My son is still braces-free, but going in every six months for checks. My daughter got braces with Dr. Sheer a few months ago, and has been all smiles about the process.

I like how at Mt. Airy Children’s Dental Associates, each exam room is private. We’ve been to other practices where they will line up 4-5 orthodontic patients in one big exam room – it’s awkward and uncomfortable. My kids love the games in the waiting room, the colorful artwork throughout the office that makes it feel like such a special place, and they even love the tooth brushing station they visit before each exam!

Whether you live in Mt. Airy or not, our experience is that Mt. Airy Children’s Dental Associates is the best place for your kids’ dental health. The entire staff is warm and wonderful, the office is bright and beautiful, and you’ll see dozens of ways that they go the extra mile – from patient rewards and fun touches in the lobby, to helpful monthly payment plans and baby’s first exam being free. There’s a lot of heart at Mt. Airy Children’s Dental Associates!
