West Howard Swim Club in Mt. Airy is a local, community-owned pool bursting with small town charm. If your family is looking for a relaxing and fun place to spend the long, lazy days of summer, this is it! Here are my top 5 reasons why you should consider a WHSC membership:
- Amenities. More than any other pool I've visited, WHSC takes great pride in having clean, comfortable amenities. The pool itself is sparkling, the bathrooms are maintained meticulously, and the lounge chairs, umbrellas, and picnic tables are plentiful. Members also enjoy using the onsite grills, playground, tennis and basketball courts not to mention the baby pool with its fun bubblers and fountain! And my kids' favorite part: getting ice cream and snacks from The Bait Shop.
- Community. No matter when we go to the pool, my kids are almost guaranteed to find some friends from school there. And since WHSC members own a bond, you'll find they're invested and participating in all the fun activities and special events throughout the summer. Plus, you can reserve a pavilion and host your own gatherings!
- Swim and Dive Team. Whether your kids are competitive or just looking to have fun and improve their swim skills, there's a place for them with the West Howard Wahoos. It's a truly supportive team with top-notch instruction.
- Setting. With horse farms on one side and a church on the other, the atmosphere at WHSC is quiet and peaceful. The pool deck is nicely decorated with potted palms and flowers, cool murals, and festive awnings. It's so easy to relax!

Pizza delivery, ice cream, gas station, grocery store, dollar store - it's all right there!
