The Snack B!tch - a Note from Holly

By Holly Christy, Publisher September 15, 2021

I bet most of you can relate to this. One of my friends took a long car trip, and with her husband driving and her two young boys in the backseat, she said her role was to be the "snack b!tch." She wouldn't have said it out loud to her kids, of course, but she labeled herself that way to me and another mom and we had to nod our heads in understanding. If you've ever had a long road trip with littles in the backseat, you know all too well how you spend the ride. Bending and reaching for the toys and books they dropped. Unwrapping ALL the snacks, finding the water bottles, and trying to keep up with the trash and crumbs. Managing audio books, iPads, and music requests. Thinking ahead to plan potty stops and stretch breaks. And everyone's least favorite: answering "how much longer?" one million times.

Fortunately, my kids have outgrown that stage of traveling. Nowadays they're more likely to be the ones handing out snacks and managing all the devices. I'm not mad about that at all. But I do relate 100% to this meme, and it's what got me thinking about the snack b!tch in the first place:

How are your kids adjusting to the school routine? Is it a relief, or are you already missing being in summer mode? As always, I go back and forth depending on the day. But one thing is for sure: my snack drawer has breathed a giant sigh of relief since school started!

I'll see you out there -
